Jain Engineers and Graduates Association (JEGA)

JEGA, the association of engineers and graduates in Pune and PCMC area was formed to provide and environment and support to the young engineers and graduates moving to Pune.

During one of the meetings of Bahgawam Mahaver Ahinsa Trust, it was decided that we should take an initiative to help the job seekers. Accordingly, a group of professionals was created - this included colleagues amongst us working for corporates and number of entrepreneurs as well.  The group sought for profiles/ applications from the aspirant engineers and graduates. A drop-box was arranged in the temple. And a message was spread over various chat groups. There was substantial response. Every week we would open the box, go through the profiles and share it with the leadership group who could map then to open positions known to then in their circle.

It was evident that the mechanism was working well.

It was then decided that we should create an organization with broader objectives. In addition job seeking, we should also consider help in seeking accommodation, especially for ladies, any introductions that could help them learn and grow. Etc. another important decision was made – JEGA should be run by the youngsters with help from the existing leadership team of BMAT.

JEGA group of volunteers was formally formed within BMAT in 2022.  A larger community was created for seekers to join the community and seek help. Since then thousands of individuals have approached JEGA. At any point we have more than 450 members in the group. About 20% of those are leaders who can offer consultation, job opportunities or any other help. Rest, more than 300+ are the individuals who have approached JEGA.
